Reporting Suspected Child Abuse

If you know or have reason to believe a child is being abused, neglected or is in danger of abuse or neglect, call for help. Contact police or your county's social services office.

If you are in St. Louis County, call St. Louis County Social Services - Initial Intervention Unity 218.726.2012.

If you are in Lake County, call 218.834.8401.

If you are in Cook County, call 218.387.3620.

If you are in Carlton County call 218.879.4583, or Toll free 1.800.642.9082.

If you are in Douglas County WI, call 715.395.1304.

In Minnesota, professionals engaged in the following occupations are mandated to report suspected child abuse within 24 hours:

  • healing arts
  • social services
  • psychological or psychiatric treatment
  • child care
  • education
  • law enforcement
  • clergy
  • hospital personnel (physicians, nurses, medical social workers, etc.)
