Multidisciplinary Team
The First Witness Multidisciplinary Team is a collaboration of public and private agencies responsible for the investigation, assessment, prosecution, medical exams and mental health services for child abuse victims. The team's protocol requires one recorded interview with the child using a format that is developmentally designed to obtain accurate information.
In addition, the interview is monitored by other professionals who may need access to the child's statement (i.e. law enforcement, child protection services, county attorneys, public defenders, medical professionals, etc.) for making recommendations as to the viability of criminal prosecution and ongoing intervention needs.
